It is most relevant to busy households with several phones, TVs, consoles and streaming devices, especially when some clients support Wi-Fi 6E. It can also make sense if your home internet connection is fast enough to benefit from multi-gigabit networking.
Why Wi-Fi 6E matters
Wi-Fi 6E adds access to the 6 GHz band for compatible devices. That can provide another place for traffic when the traditional 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are busy. However, older devices cannot use 6 GHz, and real-world range and speed depend heavily on walls, distance, interference and client hardware.
Streaming and sports use
A stronger router can help reduce problems caused by weak local Wi-Fi or congestion when several devices are active at once. It cannot make a broadcaster's server faster and it cannot increase the speed delivered by your internet provider beyond your plan.
